Brett Baillio, Partner

With a real estate career beginning in 1979, Brett Baillio has a rich history of owning and operating prominent brokerage firms, including Comprop, Inc. and Balco Properties. Graduated from the University of Texas Austin in 1973. He and Dale Kane formed First American in the late eighties.

He excels in land sale and development, covering single/multi-family projects, commercial properties, and investment opportunities in the South Texas area.

Brett has also been actively involved in several local organizations. He is married with six grandchildren.

J. Landon Kane, Partner

Landon’s journey in real estate traces back through four generations, giving him a unique perspective and in-depth knowledge of master-planned and multi-family projects. Having stepped into the industry in 2000, Landon quickly built a reputation for successfully navigating intricate deals and developments. His expertise runs deep, allowing him to manage a wide range of transactions.

What truly sets him apart, however, are his local roots and vast network, which have become key to his ongoing success.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Landon is committed to giving back—he’s a graduate of the RECSA Leadership Development program and actively volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. At home, he and his wife, Kelly, are proud parents of two children and two goldens.

Craig Scott, Partner

Craig Benton Scott was raised in Seguin, Texas and received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in San Marcos. Craig worked with New Home Solutions, a custom home builder, before obtaining his real estate license and joining First American Commercial.

Craig specializes in multi-use land development and is an integral part of the First American team. He is active on the San Antonio Board of Realtors and is a supporter of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Craig has two brothers- one of them his twin- and a son named Finley.

Skip Lietz, Partner

Skip Lietz, a proud veteran, has been an integral part of First American since 2004. He offers a wealth of experience in brokerage and land development, with particular focus on the outer bands of San Antonio in the path of growth for single family development.  His ability to identify emerging opportunities and guide clients through complex transactions has been instrumental in shaping the development landscape.

Skip has been married to Chelsea since 2006 and has three beautiful daughters.  Outside of work he enjoys spending time outdoors, golfing and supporting his daughters in volleyball and dance. He also serves as a Director with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, contributing to the Ranch Rodeo committee.

Mellick Sykes, Partner

Mellick T. Sykes, Jr. has been in the industry since 2001, following his graduation from Rhodes College, where he earned a degree in International Studies and was a four year letter man in football.  He earned his broker’s license in 2007 and became a partner.

Mellick is responsible for running our weekly company meetings and is the primary leader of our broker training program.  He has been the company’s top producer for the last two years.

He is involved in the CIAC, Bexar Met Capital Improvement Advisory Board, the Rotary Club (past Board of Directors), and the Young Members Board of Directors (Past President). Mellick also volunteers as a youth mentor with Diploma Plus. He is an avid outdoorsmen and has a beautiful wife and two daughters.

Matthew B. Baillio, Partner

Matthew Baillio began his commercial real estate career in 2006 after graduating from The University of Texas in Austin.  He also holds an MBA with a focus on Real Estate Finance, Development, and Project Management, and is a member of RECSA, CCIM, and ULI.

Matthew has worked in all areas of CRE from Pad Sites to Master-Planned Communities, all Mixed-Use land types for development, and Office and Retail Center Sales and Leasing.  He has served as Project Manager for several land deals in the area, working closely with engineers, City staff, utilities providers, and more. 

Matthew’s extensive knowledge of the local markets can provide his clients with a complete and accurate analysis and evaluation of their assets and professionally assist in the negotiation and disposition of all asset types.

In his free time, Matthew loves spending time with his young girl and boy, and he enjoys fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling, and being on any type of water.

Brodie Lowrey, Partner

Brodie Lowrey, a native of San Antonio, brings an expert touch to land brokerage, specializing in multi-family, single-family, and mixed-use developments. His architectural background, including a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Texas Tech University and a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio, gives him a unique perspective on land projects.

Prior to joining First American in 2006, Brodie gained experience as an intern architect at Beaty Palmer Architects in downtown San Antonio.

Beyond his professional work, Brodie serves as Co-Director of the YTAC San Antonio Invitational, a charity fishing tournament benefiting the ThriveWell Cancer Foundation. He is happily married and a proud father of two.

Jim Akin, Broker

James K. (Jim) Akin has been a full-time commercial real estate broker since 1978. Prior to that, he managed a small apartment project while in college and did research work for a real estate brokerage firm, so his experience in the business actually began in the early 1970’s.

Jim spent his first ten years in real estate in Austin, Texas where he specialized in brokering sales of investment and improved properties. During that time, he was also the managing partner of NHP Real Estate Company, one of the premier firms in central Texas. Jim then spent a year as head of the equity division for a large mortgage banking firm based in Birmingham, Alabama.

Family considerations resulted in Jim returning to his hometown of San Antonio, Texas in the summer of 1989. He then associated as a principal with Cambridge Realty Group for the next six years. During this time, Jim brokered the sales of numerous buildings and other properties in and near downtown San Antonio. In the fall of 1995, he joined First American Commercial Property Group, where he remains to date. During the past 20+ years, Jim has been very active in the I-10 West corridor northwest of San Antonio, including the Fair Oaks Ranch, Boerne, and Comfort areas. Over a period of several years, he also brokered the sales of some 5,000 acres of land in NE Medina County.

Jim completed his college education in 1972 at Texas State University (f/k/a Southwest Texas State University) in Business Administration, Marketing Major. He has also completed dozens of hours of continuing real estate education, including four week-long CCIM courses.

Jim is active in The Real Estate Council of San Antonio, where he serves on the Executive Committee and as a Committee Chairman. He is a member of the Founder’s Council of the Real Estate Finance and Development Program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Jim also serves on the Restrictions Committee of the Fair Oaks Ranch Homeowners Association.

Alec Guerra, Agent

Alec Guerra is a third generation native of San Antonio, well versed in the needs of the business community in this city. While attending The University of San Antonio, Alec owned and operated a commercial art business that worked with many organizations including the Greater San Antonio Builders Association. Working this entrepreneurial experience earned him valuable knowledge in the needs of the modern Texas business owner.  Growing up in San Antonio has allowed Alec to have extensive knowledge of the city while establishing a large network in San Antonio’s commercial real estate sector.

Christian Garcia, Broker

Christian Garcia has been with First American Commercial Property Group since 2011 when he began his real estate journey. He was born and raised in San Antonio, and he graduated from UTSA in 2009 with a degree in Business Marketing. Christian is a first generation Texan and American, and his roots extend to Northern Mexico and Western Europe. He is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French. During his time at First American Commercial, he has sold and leased nearly every property type in Commercial Real Estate. He has represented both sides of the transaction in both selling and leasing. Clients have ranged from local deep-rooted San Antonians to international corporations. Locally, Christian has been a part of the San Antonio Rotary Club in the past and is currently a member, and actively involved, in the Urban Land Institute chapter of San Antonio. Christian focuses on providing a first-class work ethic complemented by an open-minded and inquisitive approach to all his clients and transactions. He enjoys traveling, reading, and hopes to pursue a career in politics.
