Brett Baillio, Partner

Brett Baillio was licensed in 1979. He has owned and operated multiple full-service real estate brokerage companies such as Comprop, Inc. (1982) and Balco Properties (1984). Brett is involved in the sale and development of land for investment, single/multi family, and commercial development in the San Antonio area, as well as the sale of apartment complexes, hotels, retail centers, office buildings, and industrial buildings.

Brett is a past member of TAR, The San Antonio Builder’s Association, the Northside Chamber of Commerce, the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, the Board of Realtors Commercial Division, and the San Antonio Area Youth Soccer League. He and his wife Sue have two children and twin grandchildren.

J. Landon Kane, Partner

J. Landon Kane is the fourth generation to learn about real estate from his father. Landon’s great grandfather started the business over 45 years ago, and Landon has been working with his father, Dale, since 2000. Landon specializes in master planned communities, multi-family, and hospitality. He has experience as a developer and a broker.

Landon participated in the RECSA Leadership Development program and has volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He and his wife Kelly have two children, Harper and Hudson.

Craig Scott, Partner

Craig Benton Scott was raised in Seguin, Texas and received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in San Marcos. Craig worked with New Home Solutions, a custom home builder, before obtaining his real estate license and joining First American Commercial.

Craig specializes in multi-use land development and is an integral part of the First American team. He is active on the San Antonio Board of Realtors and is a supporter of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Craig has two brothers- one of them his twin- and a son named Finley.

Mellick Sykes, Partner

Mellick T. Sykes, Jr. has been in the industry since 2001, following his graduation from Rhodes College, where he earned a degree in International Studies and was a four year letter man in football.  He earned his broker’s license in 2007 and became a partner.

Mellick is responsible for running our weekly company meetings and is the primary leader of our broker training program.  He has been the company’s top producer for the last two years.

He is involved in the CIAC, Bexar Met Capital Improvement Advisory Board, the Rotary Club (past Board of Directors), and the Young Members Board of Directors (Past President). Mellick also volunteers as a youth mentor with Diploma Plus. He is an avid outdoorsmen and has a beautiful wife and two daughters.

Matthew B. Baillio, Partner

Matthew B. Baillio began commercial real estate brokerage in April of 2006 after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Economics. He has worked on master planned and mixed-use projects consisting of apartments, residential, office, retirement, special purpose, retail and other commercial land for development. As his interest in real estate progressed, Matthew attended UTSA and completed his MBA in 2014 with a Real Estate Finance and Development concentration. He is a member of the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, CCIM, and a member of Urban Land Institute (ULI).

Brodie Lowrey, Partner

Brodie Lowrey is a native of San Antonio, and he specializes in land brokerage with a focus on multi-family, single family, and mixed-use development.

Prior to starting his career with First American in 2006, Brodie was an intern architect at Beaty Palmer Architects, located in downtown San Antonio. Brodie received a BS in Architecture from Texas Tech University in 2003 and Masters in Architecture from University of Texas at San Antonio in 2006. Brodie became a partner at First American in 2013.

Brodie is involved in the following: The Rotary Club of San Antonio, The Real Estate Council of San Antonio (RECSA), Young Texans Against Cancer (YTAC), Co-Chair: YTAC San Antonio “Bay Bash” Fishing Tournament, Leadership Organization of Professionals (Loop), and Urban Land Institute (ULI)

Jim Akin, Broker

James K. (Jim) Akin has been a full-time commercial real estate broker since 1978. Prior to that, he managed a small apartment project while in college and did research work for a real estate brokerage firm, so his experience in the business actually began in the early 1970’s.

Jim spent his first ten years in real estate in Austin, Texas where he specialized in brokering sales of investment and improved properties. During that time, he was also the managing partner of NHP Real Estate Company, one of the premier firms in central Texas. Jim then spent a year as head of the equity division for a large mortgage banking firm based in Birmingham, Alabama.

Family considerations resulted in Jim returning to his hometown of San Antonio, Texas in the summer of 1989. He then associated as a principal with Cambridge Realty Group for the next six years. During this time, Jim brokered the sales of numerous buildings and other properties in and near downtown San Antonio. In the fall of 1995, he joined First American Commercial Property Group, where he remains to date. During the past 20+ years, Jim has been very active in the I-10 West corridor northwest of San Antonio, including the Fair Oaks Ranch, Boerne, and Comfort areas. Over a period of several years, he also brokered the sales of some 5,000 acres of land in NE Medina County.

Jim completed his college education in 1972 at Texas State University (f/k/a Southwest Texas State University) in Business Administration, Marketing Major. He has also completed dozens of hours of continuing real estate education, including four week-long CCIM courses.

Jim is active in The Real Estate Council of San Antonio, where he serves on the Executive Committee and as a Committee Chairman. He is a member of the Founder’s Council of the Real Estate Finance and Development Program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Jim also serves on the Restrictions Committee of the Fair Oaks Ranch Homeowners Association.

Jack Scanio, Agent

After graduating from Texas State University with a BA in Finance in 2005, Jack began his real estate career with First American Commercial Property Group with a primary focus on single-family development and land entitlement. Over the past nine years with the company, he has closed transactions ranging from office buildings to development land to recreational ranches. He and his wife Brooke are long time residents of New Braunfels, and this is where he focuses on buying, selling, and managing most of his clients’ real estate investment and development efforts.

Ryan Kuhl, Agent

Ryan T. Kuhl is an active member of the San Antonio business community with extensive experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. During his professional career he has served as the Managing Partner for First American Commercial Property Group, the Chief Operating Officer of SA2020, and a Real Estate Manager for Center City Development and Operations with the City of San Antonio. He has served on multiple nonprofit boards and committees with organizations including the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Leadership Organization of Professionals (LOOP), SA2020, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Young Texans Against Cancer. Ryan received his BS in Geography from Texas A&M University and his MA in World History from UTSA. He enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and young son, and traveling whenever possible.

Christian Garcia, Agent

Christian Garcia has been with First American Commercial Property Group since 2011 when he began his real estate journey. He was born and raised in San Antonio, and he graduated from UTSA in 2009 with a degree in Business Marketing. Christian is a first generation Texan and American, and his roots extend to Northern Mexico and Western Europe. He is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French. During his time at First American Commercial, he has sold and leased nearly every property type in Commercial Real Estate. He has represented both sides of the transaction in both selling and leasing. Clients have ranged from local deep-rooted San Antonians to international corporations. Locally, Christian has been a part of the San Antonio Rotary Club in the past and is currently a member, and actively involved, in the Urban Land Institute chapter of San Antonio. Christian focuses on providing a first-class work ethic complemented by an open-minded and inquisitive approach to all his clients and transactions. He enjoys traveling, reading, and hopes to pursue a career in politics.
